About this training
According to the Consortium for Research in Deaf Education (CRIDE) there are 54,321 Deaf children in the UK and the RNID reports one in three adults in the UK are Deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus.
Remark! explain that Deaf Awareness Training can help front line staff to gain the skills and confidence to interact with Deaf people.
This interactive session will incorporate quizzes, Q&A sessions, and other fun activities.
The Remark! trainer will help you to:
understand what deafness is,
learn about lip reading and Deaf culture,
gain tips for effective communication,
enable attendees to learn basic British Sign Language, including signs that are tailored for museum settings.
This virtual training session will be delivered over two hours by a Remark! Deaf tutor who will be accompanied by a communication support worker who will provide voiceover for the session.

This training is aimed at staff at museums, galleries and heritage sites who are interested in making their organisations more welcoming to Deaf children, young people and families.
